M-40 Speedway - Outlaw Late Model Rules

2014 LATE MODEL ALLIANCE RULES (Subject to Change with 2014 Rules)

 

THE LATE MODEL ALLIANCE is committed to preserving and maintaining outlaw super late model racing in the Midwest, as demonstrated by the support of these tracks and touring series.

 

 

RACE TRACKS

Michigan: Auto City, Berlin, Dixie, Flat Rock, Kalamazoo, Owosso, Spartan,

Springport, M-40 Speedway

Ohio: Toledo

Indiana: New Paris, Plymouth

Touring Series: Main Event

 

BACK PANEL

 

Minimum 14", perpendicular to the ground, fully enclosed.

 

BODY WIDTH

 

Maximum of 82" over the front tires, steadily decreasing in width to a max. of 76" at the center of rear axle, then tapering to a maximum of 72" at the rear spoiler. Width measurement will be taken at the top of the body, above front end and rear wheels. Max. of 82" is allowed at bottom of doors, between front and rear tires.

 

CARBURETOR

 

Max. of one (1) four barrel, with 2 return springs.

 

ENGINE

 

STEEL BLOCK, ANY CUBIC INCH, ANY COMPRESSION ALLOWED. ENGINE SET BACK: Maximum of 4 inches. Ford engines- maximum of 5 inches.

 

FRONT NOSE

After-market nosepiece, to be mounted in conventional manner and have no more than 1 inch of belly built into face of nosepiece. Front over-hang may extend maximum of 45 inches from center of hub to tip of nose, including lip/splitter. Maximum width of lip is 4 inches. Nosepiece flare must not extend higher than top of fender.

 

 

 

FUEL

GAS OR ALCOHOL ONLY, ALCOHOL CARS MUST HAVE A 4" A on BOTH SIDES OF THE CAR.

 

BODY PART(S) CLARIFICATION 

 

Body to be mounted in conventional manner- no recessed body panels, vents, louvers, wrapped-in fenders, offset quarter panels, etc. No built-in vertical lips on any type body panel.

 

Wheel flare(s) cannot extend past sidewall of tire and cannot extend back past rear of tire, and can be no higher than actual quarter panel or fender.

 

Spoiler cannot be closer than 3 inches to outside of right rear tire.

 

Rear deck lid drop or “belly” may have maximum of 1 inch drop, checked with straight edge from side to side of rear quarter panels.

 

FOR 2014:  NO titanium or carbon fiber rotors or driveshaft’s (some tracks 

already have this rule).

 

FUEL CELL

 

Must be located to the rear of rear axle and between the inside edges of the rear tires. Cell must be a minimum of 8" off the ground at its lowest point. Container must be made of metal (type will vary from track to track).

 

MUFFLERS

 

Working mufflers are mandatory. Maximum decibel level 100dbl.

 

RADIOS AND MIRRORS

Raceceiver is recommended!!

NO MIRRORS ALLOWED.

 

 

REAR BUMPER HEIGHT

 

Maximum 12" from ground to bottom of bumper.

 

REAR DECK LID

 

Maximum - 28" from base of rear window to base or rear spoiler. Deck lid must be removable or have access panel (may vary from track to track).

 

REAR HALO BAR

 

Effective 2008: Measurement from bottom of 3 inch frame rail to top of rear roll bar is minimum 39 -1/2 inches, with 1/4 inch tolerance. The measurement of front halo bar to be identical 39-1/2 inches, with 1/4 inch tolerance. Any material added to meet the measurement must meet the minimum roll cage specifications.

 

REAR OVERHANG

 

Measured from center of rear axle, 46" maximum to furthest point back, excluding bumper. Quarter panel to be perpendicular to the ground. Quarter panel minimum 8" from ground to bottom of panel.

 

REAR SPOILER

 

Maximum of 8" high x 72" wide (material), made of clear material and be flat. Bracing may be from front or rear. For front bracing, maximum of 3 supports, maximum of 3/4" round tubing only. Rear bracing must be inset from sides of quarter panel a minimum of 3" on both sides. Max. 1 inch rear facing lips only. Maximum - 42" from ground to top of spoiler.

 

REAR WINDOW

 

Any continuous radius of elliptical shape resembling stock design, but may not come to a point. No V shapes or concave windows, must remain flat in the center. No tear drop style rear windows. Must have rear window brace, placed in center of window.

 

ROOF

 

Minimum 38" long by 45" wide. ROOF HEIGHT: Minimum of 45", measured 10- inches back from windshield, no more than 2" drop permitted front to back in center of roof.

 

Max. drop side to side is 2-1/2 inches. Maximum - 102" measurement from front of roof to base of rear spoiler.

 

SHELF

 

4" maximum, measured from front windshield post back to front of C pillar, plus 1 inch max. side body radius. C pillar may taper inward no more than 9 " from the edge of the body, at a point 52" forward of the base of rear spoiler. C pillar is to be made of aluminum in a shape resembling body style of cars nosepiece, may not be concave in any direction and at 30 degree maximum angle from vertical.

 

SHOCKS

 

Open, but may NOT be adjustable from the cockpit.

 

TIRES

 

970’s

 

TRACK WIDTH

 

Max. of 82", measured outside of tire to outside of tire.

RUB RAILS: Max. of 1" by 1", no sharp edges, must have closed ends.

WHEELBASE: 102" minimum.

 

TRACTION CONTROL

 

TRACTION CONTROL IS NOT PERMITTED. No adjusters of any type in cockpit with exception of brake bias. **MSD box must be mounted out of reach of driver sitting in car.

 

WEIGHT

 

Maximum 60% left side. 2700LBS Min. Car will be weighed with driver in car with all gear on. All lead is to be painted white with car number on each piece of lead.

 

WHEELS

 

10" max. width. STEEL ONLY…

 

WINDOW OPENINGS

 

Minimum of 12" by 22". Driver must be able to get out of car on both sides with helmet on. No add-on pieces in window area. No boxing in of window area.
